I thought I would give you a little insight to our recently extended/renovated bedroom!

The most important colour decision of the house! “A place of calm” dark for evening relaxation and light enough for morning, colour is crucial in this room.

The walls are painted in Farrow & Ball ‘Elephants Breath’ a neutral colour, wrapping the whole room in it, ceilings and wardrobes will make the room look larger but will create a calming effect.

I’ve added traditional wooden furniture, an old chest of draws which I bought from a junk shop in South Wales about 10 years ago for £20.00, I stripped it back to its original & the rest is history. My husband hates it, he would like something more modern, “NO WAY” its falling apart, with broken draws, difficult to open & my son’s even carved his name on it, but I love it, “every mark tells a story”!

The wooden table is also an old piece of furniture, this was actually our first dining table, with the painted white mirror & large grey basket (great for storage) I think it looks simple but effective.

I’ve added an incredible grey velour headboard with chrome legs “love your home” a contrasting hue, with gorgeous white bed linen, and old fashioned quilted throw from The White Company accompanied with french blue buttoned cushions (from Hudson Home in Knowle) to finish the look. It takes me ten minutes to make the bed everyday but it’s worth it! Ikea glass lamp bases, cream shades from Laura Ashley, and modern down lighters either side of the bed make the room a bit quirky, with beautiful three draw wooden bedside tables again Hudson Home, adds to the relaxed atmosphere of the bedroom.
